a transitional poem #22

In the fading light of my twenty-first year, I reflect on the mosaic of moments and people who have shaped my journey. Those who left did not just create absences but carved spaces where new understandings could grow. Their departures taught me the weight of solitude and the quiet power of self-discovery.

Graduating was more than a ritual; it marked a profound shift. Crossing that stage, I left behind familiar routines and embraced the uncertainty of a wider world. Each step forward was a step into the unknown, a promise of uncharted paths and new beginnings.

Traveling across different countries, I found myself immersed in the rich tapestry of varied cultures. Each place offered a new lens through which to view life, from bustling markets and ancient temples to the warm hospitality of strangers. These experiences taught me the beauty of difference and the universal threads that connect us all.

I encountered diverse perspectives and ideas that challenged and inspired me. These gatherings were crucibles of growth, where I learned to listen deeply and contribute meaningfully. They were spaces of both introspection and outward engagement, shaping my thoughts and actions.

Throughout this year, I’ve made choices that reflect a deeper understanding of myself and my values. Each decision, small or significant, has been a step toward a life lived with intention and authenticity.

As I transition into twenty-two, I carry these lessons with me. The past year has been a teacher, and I step into the future with a heart open to what comes next, knowing that every experience, every encounter, will continue to shape and refine who I am becoming.
